Mission of the Board of Directors

“The Mission of the Board of Directors of the Estes Valley Fire Protection District is to establish policy, goals, strategies and financial leadership that are the foundation for the long-term sustainability of the District.”

The District Board Members are as follows:



Mike Kearney,Vice-President

Mike Kearney was born in Loveland, Colorado and raised in Estes Park. He is married to his wife Laura, and has two adult children. Mike served as a volunteer fireman for eight years, which at that time his business kept him from giving the department the dedication that was required. Mike also served on the Board of Directors for Upper Thompson Sanitation District for three years. He started his own excavating business, (Kearney & Son's Excavating), twenty-five years ago. Mike has seen a lot of change in the Estes Valley over the past 56 years and is dedicated to making our community the best community possible.



Douglas Klink, President

Doug Klink has lived in Estes Park since 2003 with his wife and 2 children. Treasurer Klink is an Antique Fire Engine restorer for KVR LLC, and is the Director of Reliance Fire Museum.

Mike Richardson



Mike Richardson, Treasurer

Mike Richardson was born in New Hampshire and grew up in the suburbs north of NY City. He moved to Estes Park in the fall of 1980 and has had 3 distinct careers; 15 years in the food and beverage industry, 11 years as owner/operator of Mike’s Tree Service and the past 8 years as a Real Estate Broker with First Colorado Realty.  Mike is very proud to be an active member of the Estes Park Community.  He has been on the Rodeo Committee, 2 terms on the EVRPD Board of Directors and is the current President of the Estes Park Board of Realtors and Realtor Representative on the Economic Development Corporation.  His Fire Department experience includes being a member of the Glen Haven Volunteer Fire Dept. for 4 years, serving on their Fire Board and he was an Estes Park Volunteer Fire Fighter from 2003-2010. In his spare time he coaches youth sports and is an auxiliary member of the EPMC Ambulance team.  His wife is Dr. C. of the Animal Hospital of the Rockies and they have two children, Nathan age 11 and Alexis age 8.

Ed Ford, Secretary

Ed has lived in Estes Park for 55 years. He has worked for the Estes Park Sanitation District for 38 years where he is currently the plant superintendent. Ed was on the Estes Park Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years, where he served as a firefighter, EMT, and Assistant Chief. Being on the board of the EVFPD, Ed plans on helping to keep the department evolving and improving to continue to be the best department possible.
