Mission of the Board of Directors
“The Mission of the Board of Directors of the Estes Valley Fire Protection District is to establish policy, goals, strategies and financial leadership that are the foundation for the long-term sustainability of the District.”
The District Board Members are as follows:
Mark Igel, Vice President firstname.lastname@example.org
Mark Igel has been an Estes Park resident since 1988, and a volunteer firefighter since he was 15 years old, serving the last 22 years with the EPVFD. During that time, Mark was named firefighter and officer of the year, and served in many roles including Firefighter, Lieutenant, Paramedic, and particularly enjoyed community outreach through fire prevention activities. Mark, his wife Kelly, and their 7 children are familiar faces in the community having owned Reel Mountain Theater until recently, and through their involvement with several Estes Park youth and family organizations. Like many local residents, Mark is no stranger to working hard, having spent 18 years full time with the Estes Park Medical Center Ambulance Service, although today he holds down just one job, in his 20th year with a company he founded designing and building signs, at Signs of Life, Inc.
Mike Kearney was born in Loveland, Colorado and raised in Estes Park. He is married to his wife Laura, and has two adult children. Mike served as a volunteer fireman for eight years, which at that time his business kept him from giving the department the dedication that was required. Mike also served on the Board of Directors for Upper Thompson Sanitation District for three years. He started his own excavating business, (Kearney & Son’s Excavating), twenty-five years ago. Mike has seen a lot of change in the Estes Valley over the past 56 years and is dedicated to making our community the best community possible.
