COVID-19 Disaster Declaration

As both Larimer County Health and Governor Polis have issued stay-at-home orders, Fire Chief David Wolf issued a Disaster Declaration on behalf of the Estes Valley Fire Protection District effective March 26, 2020. This Declaration is in effect for seven days unless extended by the Board of Directors.

A Disaster Declaration serves three primary purposes:

  1. Makes the District eligible for financial aid and reimbursement for costs due to the emergency.

  2. Ensures our inclusion in emergency management plans if we don’t already have the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) in place.

  3. Enable us to use our reserves. We have maintained a 25% Operating Reserve by budget adoption, and this allows us to use those funds without budget amendment.

This disaster declaration has been extended at each meeting of the Board. We will remove when the Board allows it to lapse.
