Welcome from the Estes Valley Prevention Division
The Mission of the Estes Valley Fire Protection District is to provide the citizens of and visitors to the Estes Valley with superior fire prevention, fire protection, and emergency services in a safe and efficient manner. We achieve this mission by actively, demonstrating ethical conduct, excellent customer service, and professional integrity in all areas of fire inspections, fire investigations, plans examinations and public education.
Services provided by the Fire Prevention Division include, Fire Inspections, Plan Review, Fire Investigations and Public Education.
Fire inspections are conducted to discover and correct any condition likely to cause a fire or life safety hazard. All business properties within the Estes Valley Fire District, except private dwellings, are inspected on an annual or semi-annual basis. There is a priority based on the associated hazards that a site may pose or to be in compliance with federal and state laws. The items and areas we inspect include materials and manner of storage, maintenance of exits, accessibility to fire service personnel, maintenance of fire protection and detection systems, general housekeeping and hazardous materials management. All of our Inspectors, Investigators and Plan Reviewers are certified by the Department of Fire Protection and Control or the International Code Council.
The Fire Prevention Division reviews construction and development plans to determine compliance with the adopted 2015 International Fire and Building Codes as well as all state, local codes, ordinances, standards and regulations. Fire plan reviewers look for such things as adequate and compliant fire safety systems, fire resistant building materials, fire district access along with proper and adequate exiting.
The Fire District conducts investigations into all fires to determine their origin and cause. Whether a fire is unintentional in nature or deliberately set, the investigation team determines the need for any action to prevent future occurrence, such as product recalls, public awareness, increased code compliance inspections, or prosecuting an arsonist.
The fire district provides public education programs upon request. Both our engine companies and fire prevention personnel have an active presence in our community. Some of the programs we offer include a station tour, fire extinguisher training, reducing wild fire risks, fire safety for seniors, home escape planning and general fire safety. To schedule a public education for your business, civic group, home or school, contact the fire prevention division at 970-577-0900 or Prevention@estesvalleyfire.org
